Historian-in-Residence

I work with cultural institutions, foundations, and corporations as a historian-in-residence, focusing on the interpretation of institutional history and the development of archival narratives. My work draws on primary source materials to examine how organizations understand their past and present themselves over time.

These collaborations typically involve the study of archival collections, internal records, and institutional histories in order to develop coherent narratives of identity, leadership, and continuity. In some cases, this work contributes to publications, exhibitions, or internal initiatives; in others, it supports long-term reflection on institutional purpose and development.

In certain engagements, this work begins with an archival or institutional assessment, providing a foundation for sustained historical interpretation and stewardship. These initial studies help identify the structure, condition, and historical significance of collections, while also clarifying opportunities for future research and development.

My work is grounded in archival research and historical method, with an emphasis on how institutions construct and communicate legitimacy, memory, and identity over time.
